Eggner’s Ferry: Everybody Was Running Back And Forth

Posted by – January 27, 2012

WKDZ did a great job covering the bridge hit and collapse of the Eggner’s Ferry bridge. Of all the coverage they did I want to highlight one interview. It is a classic that will live forever in the genre of country-fried disaster interviews.

MP3: Robert Parker Interview – (C) WKDZ Radio

WKDZ: Did you get out of the vehicle after this happened and look down there?

RP: Yes.

WKDZ: Did you yell at anyone on the boat? Did anyone yell at you?

RP: Nuh Uh, everybody was running back and forth.

WKDZ: Did any of them know you were up there?

RP: I don’t know that they did or not.

Everybody was running back and forth, I’ll bet they were!

Paula Russell speaks at CHUMC

Paula Russell speaks at CHUMC

I hope this will be the closest I ever come to professional thievery. Paula Russell from Aaron McNeil House was discovered victimizing the organization she was hired to lead. In the initial report she was charged with stealing only from AMH.

The former executive director of the Aaron McNeil House in Hopkinsville is charged with using funds from the non-profit agency to pay more than $23,000 worth of bills.

Then the next day more details were released saying that Paula Russell has done this before.

It happened 8-years ago and law enforcement and court officials say she was going by the name Paula Nightingale. Russell, or Nightingale, pled guilty in December 2003 to three counts of false bookkeeping and one count of felony theft after being indicted on more than 47 various charges. She was ordered to pay nearly 84-thousand dollar in restitution directly to Pasminco Incorporated.

Christian Heights also had our interactions with Ms. Russell/Nightingale when we collected 1100 units of food for Aaron McNeil’s food pantry. On the day when Ms. Russell visited us to receive the donation. She gave the congregation a backhanded compliment saying that she felt welcomed into the church even though CHUMC is 100% white and she is black. It was rude and unnecessary for her to mention it. Her comments reveal what is first on her mind. Are you black or white? Are you the “oppressed” or the oppressor?

Murano Passes Aggressive Crash Test

Early this morning, an elderly woman drove her Nissan Murano through the front door of the Hopkinsville Post Office. Neither the driver or USPS employees were seriously injured. This incident raises several questions. Why is it so common for people to crash their cars into buildings while they are maneuvering in a parking lot? Elderly drivers often have this problem but it is not exclusive to the elderly.

Another question I have is why did the people on-scene turn the vehicle around inside the building and drive it out the same way it came in? Wouldn’t you expect they’d put the car in neutral and pull it out backwards with a winch? Finally, we should give credit to the Nissan Motor company for building such a sturdy vehicle. The Murano was completely undamaged except for a dent in the bumper on the left side and the black molding under the bumper was broken.

I took these when I left work the same afternoon. There was already a construction guy there planning how to make repairs.

Failed Deposits Increased Cubed

FDIC^3

If you read, listen, watch the mainstream media the unanimous decision is that the economy is improving and everything will be peachy-keen by Christmas. The story is completely different listening to conservative commentary which hammers on Obama’s economic policies regularly. In case you aren’t depressed enough listen to The Disciplined Investor podcast. Hold on to your wallet while you listen to it though. Yet more bad news came on July 2 when the FDIC closed seven banks on one day. The week before five banks were closed. The only thing that’s missing from fdic.gov is for it to be RSS enabled to publish the scandal that’s happening now.

Failed banks are closed weekly every Friday afternoon. For Kentucky, there is some consolation that no banks have failed yet.

Check out BigDog, a mechanized pack animal/weapons platform. A radical change happened in the transition from mounted horse calvary to mechanized tanks this is likely to be as great or greater change.
