Climate Blasphemer Among Us

Posted by – August 15, 2009

The climate blasphemers continue multiplying. I reported on blasphemy popping up in Minnesota earlier but at the time The One’s Ministry of Truth had not been erected yet. Here again there is a man named David Powell that continues spreading the rumor that the Sun controls our weather more than humans do.

CHRISTIAN COUNTY WEATHER COORDINATOR DAVID POWELL TOLD THE NEWS EDGE DURING AN EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW THERE ARE A NUMBER OF REASONS FOR THE CHANGE IN THE WEATHER PATTERN AND NO ONE SPECIFIC REASON, BUT ONE OF THE CAUSES IS THE LACK OF SUNSPOTS ON THE SUN, WHICH PRODUCE ENERGY AND RADIATE TO THE EARTH AND WARM UP THE CLIMATE.

HE NOTES THE LAST TIME THERE WAS A VERY LONG SOLAR MINIMUM IT LASTED ABOUT SEVENTY YEARS AND RECENT DATA SHOWS THE EARTH’S SURFACE IS GETTING COOLER.

Dare he say! Obama will smite him instantly if he does not turn from his evil deeds!

Even though Cap n’ Trade legislation seems to be dead on arrival we should remember that government policy never dies. Cap and Trade will be put back on the shelf to wait for a more opportune moment.

Clear Day

A great day to be outside. The farmer’s market at Bradford Square Mall was lined with vendors. Humidity has come down dramatically since I complained about it on June 28. The low tonight and tomorrow is forecast to be in the 50′s.

There’s some people in Minnesota already talking about Global Cooling.

Today, walking down the street in downtown Minneapolis at 5:30, en route from my office to my parking ramp, I saw something I’ve never seen before: a man wearing a winter coat in July. Well, maybe not quite a winter coat, but definitely a fall/winter semi-parka with an unzipped, faux-fur lined hood. He was carrying a briefcase and looked like a businessman who was tired of being cold every time he went outdoors. In the summer.

Don’t let Al Gore hear you say that. He’ll kick your butt!

August Heat?

Thermometer

Hot or cold? If you had a choice to freeze your butt off in the dead of winter or melt away under a scorching sun what would be your choice? In Kentucky, you can do both in the span of twelve months. (Kentucky winters have been extremely mild for the past several years until this year.  During the ice storm a lot of people could have become popsicles.) I maintain consistently that being cold is better than hot. During cold weather I can add a blanket or dig out my thermal underoos but you can’t escape hot, sticky air except to crank the AC.  Right now, I’m fighting with the high humidity during the wee hours of the morning. I turned the ceiling fan on high but it hasn’t done anything to bring relief.

Usually the unbearable sticky, humid air doesn’t come till August where it hangs for a few weeks until the cooler breezes of autumn come to the rescue. It’s gonna suck if this is the way it’s gonna be till September.

The image to the left was taken at 2:11 AM. It shows the outdoor temperature to be 77 degrees F/84% humidity. Indoor temperature was 84 degrees F/57% humidity.

I’ll try this sleep thing again. I hope I can still get a of couple hours sleep before morning comes.
